We would like to inform you about an important change that affects email functionality in iScala. It concerns how the system sends documents and reports via email.
Upcoming change to email handling
Microsoft has announced that support for Basic Authentication for email communication via SMTP will be discontinued in December 2026. This means it will no longer be possible to send or receive emails using the old authentication method.
What does this mean for iScala?
Epicor has implemented support for modern authentication (OAuth2) in iScala version 2024.1. This means that:
- iScala version 2024.1 or later is required to continue sending documents and reports via email after the upcoming change.
- Older versions of iScala will no longer work for SMTP email sending if you are using Basic Authentication.
- iSQD distribution will also be affected, as it also uses SMTP for sending emails.
What do you need to do?
To ensure that your email communication continues to function after Basic Authentication is retired, you need to:
- ✅ Check which version of iScala you are currently using.
- ✅ Make sure you are using, or upgrade to, version 2024.1 or later.
